Hypnosis can be briefly described as an altered state of consciousness. It explores the mind and its role in diseases. Hypnosis is a therapeutic tool that has helped people overcome a range of conditions e.g.. anxiety and stress, phobias, and habits. In essence it’s the communication of thoughts, feelings and opinions. It focuses your attention on your own inner experiences and feelings, reaching below the level of consciousness. Hypnosis enables us to get into a very relaxed state enabling us tap into our sub conscious minds and explore our difficulties.

Have you ever got from A – B without knowing how you got there?

Being in a hypnotic state which we call ‘trance’ is like being in a day dream, and we day dream many times a day.

It is a very safe practice and you are in control at all times

Psychotherapeutic Counselling

As an Integrative Practitioner I work with client cognitions, emotions, feelings, actions and behaviors in the therapeutic process because these are considered prime components of the human psyche.

Integrative counselling encompasses Person Centred therapy Psychodynamics, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT) Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT).Transactional Analysis (TA) and Gestalt. Drawing from these methodologies I can customise a therapy determined by your needs as an individual, one method does not suit all.

Integrative counselling doesn’t aim to change a person instead it attempts to re-integrate their best features for better functioning.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT):

Looks at the way in which we react to our thoughts, beliefs and feelings, and works to change behaviour. Sessions are structured and focus mainly on present difficulties, using clear techniques and goals. Homework is often set.

Psychodynamic Therapy:
Explores early life experiences to help gain an understanding of current thought patterns, feelings, behaviours, relationships etc. This understanding then forms a base for finding helpful ways of dealing with difficulties.

Person-Centred Therapy:
is based on the assumption that being able to express emotions freely in the safe, non-judgemental space provided by the therapist, enables the client to explore negative feelings. This is turn helps the client to come to terms with these feelings and develop resources for dealing with them.
